Dmitry V. Panchenko

Dmitry V. Panchenko was born in 1956, in Leningrad. In 1978, he graduated from the Department of History of Ancient Greece and Rome at Leningrad State University. From 1980-1982, he was a doctoral student at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of History Academy of Sciences, USSR.

From 1982-1993 he worked there as a research fellow. In 1984, he obtained his Ph. D. in history. Since 1990, he has taught history at the Gymnasium Classicum Petropolitanum. Since 1999, he has been teaching at the Smolny College of Liberal Arts and Science (St. Petersburg State University). In 1991-1992 he was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University. In 1993-1994, he was a junior fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies (Washington, DC). 1997-1998 he was a research fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Konstanz University). Currently he is a research fellow at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies. He a member of the editorial board of the journal “Hyperboreus.” His research interest is Greek intellectual history.
